Sand in Hand

9×12 original pastel on sanded paper, matted and framed, $175 plus shipping

This pink beach enthusiast was armed with a handful of sand.  She was in a hurry to meet up with her pals who were actively engaged in building an elaborate castle. My objective in this painting was to stay as loose as possible in order to show action, concentration and determination.  Play is all encompassing.  We don’t play enough.  I was disappointed recently when I saw a mom engrossed in using her cell phone while missing out on all of her child’s sandy antics.  We could all learn a lot from children on a beach.
