20X16 original pastel on sanded paper, framed, $475, plus shipping

When I look at this outfit fit for a princess or queen, I realize that I was never cut out for such a position. The headdress alone would do me in, never mind the heavy tapestry and satin layers in the dress. I painted a greyish-glue background so nothing would detract from her highness.  I started with a drawing in charcoal.  Then I blocked in the midtones.  Afterward, I offered the darks to clarify the midtones, followed by highlights.  I did this in many layers until the painting emerged.  She looks attentive, yet soft.  Ready to propose a toast to the royal court.
