12×18 original pastel on sanded paper

Mark Twain wrote tales of the frogs of Calaveras County in California.  Here is a tale of my own.  It had been a wet spring and we had pools of collected water near our house.  These were disconnected from our main seasonal creek.  My daughter and her friend started to get very concerned that it was getting hot and the pollywags wouldn’t turn into frogs quick enough before the water dried up.  They decided to help out nature and spent an afternoon transporting pollywags to the creek.  I am glad I had my camera on hand.
