PRIVATE COLLECTION
12×18 original pastel on sanded paper
I can’t remember where I found these gladiolas, but they reminded me of my first bulbs ever planted in South Carolina. When we purchased our home, it was already beautifully landscaped. I had all kinds of flowering perennials. As you drove up the long driveway toward the house, there was a circle to drive around. In there I planted some glads. There is something terrific about planting bulbs. You almost forget about them. Then you get a surprise as a strong leaf pokes through the surface. Every day you watch and see the growth. The flowers pop like popcorn when they are ready to show themselves.
