I keep telling a dear friend, “I am no landscape artist,” yet this year I am drawn toward some scenes. Painting a landscape is like capturing a moment in time. When I look at this California scene, it brings back a memory of wine tasting with dear friends in Amador County, California. I had always wanted to check out the wine scene there while we lived in Calaveras County, but my husband and I, busy with kids and other things, just didn’t get around to it. Instead, we went to Murphys for our wine adventures. When I returned to visit, I finally got the chance to see Amador County wineries. I was enchanted with the beauty of the hills, the quality of the wine, the abundance of wineries, and the flowers. These cannas frame lower portion of this landscape overlooking grapevines below. This painting is a little larger than my normal size and it took several weeks of plugging away, but I am happy with the results and the memory it evokes.
